“I see we have a whole generation of Americans growing up with inadequate education in the arts, but yet we want a society which is more creative, innovative and ingenious as we come into the 21st century.”
Dana Gioia Former Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts
Our responsibility as a resident theatre means providing opportunities, both inside and outside our facility, for all residents of the Rochester region to learn about and to experience professional theatre. Our hope is that this learning will help us to a new understanding of ourselves, as well as a new understanding of others. Our intent is to use Geva’s stages as touchstones, and to anchor our educational programs to them whenever possible. Each of our programs will enhance the understanding of our work on our stages.

“I can’t stress enough how important the performing arts are in childhood development. Growing up with them in my life allowed me to build self-confidence and self-worth, make great friendships, express myself, and manage my time. Theatre also taught me the values of teamwork and problem solving. Without the arts, I wouldn’t be who I am today. I will never forget how the faculty at Summer Academy has touched my life both artistically and personally. I am forever grateful.”
